The DeWALT DC500 sold at www.toolup.comReviewed by Kevin Hill. The DeWALT DC500 corded/cordless vacuum cleaner is a very handy vacuum to have around the garage.I have used it personally, and I find it very convenient and simply to use. Where I really find that the DC500 works well is the quick and simple jobs that you need around the garage. Things you would have normally used the broom and dustpan for. This little guy will suck up the dust and dirt quick. With a suitably long cord; it's not miles long, it's easy to move around and use without having to get an extension cord for every time that you need it.Just recently, I also purchased a DW421 to handle a small sanding job that I had. Previously, without the DC500 it was a (saw) dusty experience requiring breathing protection and LOTS of sawdust.
On a whim, I pulled out my DC500 the next time I had a sanding job, and placed the end of the vacuum hose into the DW421 and found that the hose fit perfectly. I turned on the vacuum, turned on the sander and proceeded with my job, sans sawdust. It worked perfectly! I was VERY pleased with this thoughtful feature.Changing the dust collection bin is as easy as unclipping two hinge clamps and pulling the dust bin off the bottom and dumping in an appropriate place. This vacuum also handles wet jobs, and has a drain plug in the collection tub for just such occasions, helping you to drain the wet stuff BEFORE you spill it all over.Even more features await. You can purchase the DC500, which is just the vacuum - no batteries. Or, we stock the DC500K and DC500K-2 that include a battery and charger, or batteries and charger respectively.
With a cordless battery, the DC500 now becomes totally portable and runs completely off the battery attached.he only negative to this tool is that it's not a charger. However, for the price, the DC500 series is quite a handy little addition to anyone's tool shed.Recommended. 8 Ways Carpet Cleaning Companies Take Advantage Of You
1. Many companies that charge by the square foot will charge you for the
space under the furniture, even if they don't move any. In other words, if
your room is 12' x 12', they will charge you for 144 sq. ft. If there happens
to be furniture in the room, you could be paying 10% to 30% more than
you should be!
2.
Chances of getting a novice carpet cleaning technician are pretty good,
especially if you are dealing with a larger company. Novice technicians
have an improper wand stroke, meaning they leave areas of the carpet
that have either not been cleaned or that are too wet.
3. Improper knowledge of chemicals is very common, even with experienced
carpet cleaners. Many technicians will just try one chemical after another,
until they find something that works! This is very bad because the wrong
chemical will set the stain instead of removing it, resulting in permanent

Caring for Your Hardwood Floor
Hardwood floors make a beautiful, elegant addition to your home. They are lovely and lend a graceful ambience to any room. Unfortunately, many people don't take care of their hardwood floors like they should. With some precautionary care, your hardwood floors will remain beautiful well into old age.
Sunlight
If your floor is exposed to sun during the day, invest in sheer curtains, drapes, or blinds that will limit sunlight as UV rays can damage hardwood floors over time.
Furniture
Furniture glides are a great investment for your hardwood floor.
They are small coverings, usually made of felt or another soft material, that are placed under the feet of furniture to prevent scratches. To ensure that dust and grit don't get imbedded, clean the glides regularly. When moving furniture, always lift it up. You should never slide furniture on a hardwood floor, even with glides. If the piece is too heavy to lift, place a cotton sock over the leg...

The History of Vacuum Cleaner Bags
The debris picked up by all of the different types of vacuum cleaners and units on the market has to be deposited somewhere -- usually in a vacuum cleaner bag.
In 1920 the Air Way Sanitizer Company of Ohio introduced the first vacuum cleaner with a disposable bag. Up until that time, vacuum cleaner bags resembled the type of bags golfers use to carry their clubs. They were heavy and unwieldy devices made out of thick, stiff canvas, designed to be somewhat flexible and yet keep the dust and debris from the carpets from escaping.
The improvement made by the Air Way Sanitizer disposable vacuum cleaner bag went a long way towards improving the overall effectiveness of the vacuum cleaner.
The bag, made out of paper, was designed to fit inside the cloth bag typically used. It not only made cleaning the vacuum easier but it kept the insides of the stationary bag clean at all times so that less of the dust and debris could be blown back out of...

Winter Car Care
As the weather turns colder, it is time to think about your car for a second. A little preparation can go a long way to making your winter travels a lot safer. Here is a checklist to get you started. 1. Check the antifreeze. The freezing point can be checked with a simple tool available at any auto parts store.
Make sure you check the antifreeze when it's cool. Opening a hot radiator can be a dangerous thing. 2. Check the air pressure in your tires. As the air gets cooler pressure drops...
